Edinburgh Events: Spa In the City, 4th & 5th of May

Edinburgh is blessed with some impressive spas, beauty halls and independent beauty boutique shops. Spa In the City will be back in Edinburgh for the sixth year, taking over St Andrews Square on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of May. It's a free event which showcases some of the best beauty retailers in the city with treatments available from some pretty exciting brands. John Lewis, Jenners, Harvey Nichols, Boots and Debenhams will each taking over their own marquee and these will feature Shu Uemura, Liz Earle and Clarins treatments. The Roxburghe Hotel, recently rebranded as a Crowne Plaza hotel, will also have a marquee with some lux spa treatments (they use Decleor products in their spa) and premium beauty brands like Kiehl's, Neal's Yard and Molton Brown will be there too.

Lush, who opened one of their flagship spas on Princes Street earlier this year, will be also be offering treatments which I'm terribly excited about. I'm a big fan of their scents, which promote relaxation and well-being and I've loved their products for years.  You can add to this their ethos of anti-animal testing and admirable track record of environmentally friendly products. Their spa is somewhere I've been super-keen to visit for a while and I popped in and spoke to Elise, one of the lovely Lush therapists who will be at Spa In the City.  Their spa is gorgeous and very vintage chic, with long wooden tables, fresh flowers and retro furniture, and they'll be bringing this style over to their marquee.  Their treatments will focus on facials and showcases their natural fresh products - you'll be able to make your own bespoke face mask and learn about facial massage you can do at home, as well as relaxing in their super stylish marquee space.

The Spa in the City theme this year is "Fresh as a Daisy" so it's a great opportunity to enjoy a (hopefully) sunny day in town and to visit some of the best beauty spots Edinburgh has to offer to freshen up your look or your beauty routine and certainly a good opportunity to ask about new products.  Best of all, the treatments are all free!  It's kind of amazing, considering the awesome exhibitors who will be there. The treatments are limited to one per person, and secured on the day at the registration desk - it opens at 9:30am so I'd advise getting there quickly! Some pre-booking for treatments will be available via Facebook and Twitter so go ahead and like their page if you want to try to secure a spot.
