Beauty: Zen Lifestyle Spa, Teviot Place

Zen Lifestyle have had a makeover of their Teviot Place salon and what better way to show it off than to throw a party!  They held a beauty event earlier this month and we were super excited to go and check out their new space.  Zen have an immense reputation, including winning UK Salon of the Year, so we knew it would be fabulous.  Their new look is modern and beautiful, with silver light fittings, signature purple and white hues, and matching flowers.  Zen's treatment rooms feature mini-tablets which therapists use to display before and after pictures from facials and also for customers to choose their playlist for their treatment. Also featured are adjustable lighting and heating as well as heated beds.

There were treatments taking place all evening and one of the highlights was the Clear and Brilliant facial, a new treatment that's only available in Scotland exclusively at Zen.  This facial uses a fractional laser against the skin which causes it to renew itself and is meant to feel like pins and needles.  It sounds like an advanced technology version of the derma-roller facials that were being hyped a few years ago, but this promises anti-aging radiant results with no down-time.  It was interesting watching the treatment take place and the girl receiving the facial looked relaxed and pain free!  A numbing cream is applied to the skin as part of the treatment and it must work as she was far less jumpy than you'd expect for someone who is having lasers applied to their skin.  It's somewhat pricey at £195; however it's more of an investment treatment than an every day facial.

We were lucky enough to get some treatments on the evening too - a Shellac express manicure and HD brows.  The Shellac manicure was expertly carried out in under 30 minutes, resulting in super glossy and perfect nails.  Shellac wears without chips or smears for up to three weeks and, for £28, it's a total bargain.  HD brows is one of Zen's most popular treatments and therapists can transform brows into the perfect shape to enhance your features.  Eyebrows are waxed, tweezed and threaded into an ideal shape then tinted to gain definition before being finished with brow powder to have them looking their best.  I would definitely recommend this if you have over-plucked brows you'd like to bring back to life - there's no need to worry about them looking too "strong" as the therapist talks you through the look you would like to achieve.  They cost £38 and you can expect the precise results to last up to four weeks.

Zen's hospitality didn't stop there and we were very kindly given some Dr Murad products to take home and try (they also do a range of superb Murad facials).  The therapists at Zen could not have been more helpful and it was a pleasure to see their new space.  They clearly value the customer's comfort and overall experience, and it's a really lovely and luxurious place to visit.

  1. Ooh the brows treatment sounds great. Might have to try it. I've been nursing my brows back to health for ages now, but they still have a way to go!

  2. I'd definitely recommend it! Or you can also get your eyebrows tinted there too if you wanted to see how it might look first.
