Beauty: This Month’s Favourite Products

I’ve been obsessing over two things recently: florals and bright colours.  Neal’s Yard Orange Flower toner (1 / £15.50) smells heavenly and feels super hydrating and nourishing.  Even though I have combination skin I’ve been treating myself to lux skincare more suited to dry skin as the extreme cold combined with central heating has left my skin parched and with some flaky patches. To tone or not to tone is a bit of a hot potato in the beauty world and I’ve had facialists recommend that I have no need to use toner whatsoever and others who have said it's an absolute must. Personally I find this toner refreshing and it’s floral scent means it's a joy to use.

If it’s been really cold and windy, something heavier is required and Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil (2 / £30) has been my go-to. Again with the gorgeous floral scent and again with the super nourishment; its perfect for massaging into any dry patches and really getting some extra moisture in before using my regular moisturiser on top.

Benefit’s latest launch, Fine One One (3 / £23.50), is a new addition to their blusher/highlighter collection (they seem to be launching a new highlighter every other month!). It’s a cream blusher in pink and coral together with a pale pink highlighter. I use it primarily as a blusher (I don’t think it has much of a colour on my lips) and it’s a lovely swirl of watermelon colour, tempered well with the lighter shimmer.

Revlon’s Just Bitten Balm Stain (4 / £7.99) is my new favourite thing. I love lip stains – they’re obviously not as full on as a proper lipstick so its easier to wear brighter and more daring colours and this fabulous pink goes by the corny name of Cherish. The balm means that it’s not drying at all and is more like a moisturising lipstick than some other drying lip stains I’ve tried but has the staying power of a stain. This pop of colour makes me feel really happy and – finally! – springlike.
